Job: Shea Stadium
Location: Queens, New York
Contractor: JES Mechanical
Application: Adding hydronic heaters to bathrooms, throughout
the park. Back when Shea Stadium was first built, electric unit heaters
kept the bathrooms comfortable during the spring and fall seasons. As the
stadium "ran" out of electricity, it was decided to remove the electric
unit heaters in the 21 bathrooms and replace them with a hydronic system
by tapping into the existing heating plant.
In a small maintenance room on the upper tier level, JES Mechanical ran a
heating distribution system to all 21 bathrooms.
Equipment: An Armstrong braze plate heat exchanger was used to
separate the heating plant from the newly installed glycol system.
A glycol pressure tank by Axiom was used to maintain the pressure needed
for the system.
Two Armstrong 7.5 HP series 4380 vertical in line pumps were designed to
distribute the heat through out the facility.
